Dhaka, Oct 17: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government has given people free medical services as well as vaccinations to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

She said that no rich country in the world has given free corona vaccination. We have given free vaccinations at the cost of billions of rupees. Our reserves were also good then.

She said these at the inauguration ceremony of 'Community Eye Center' through video conferencing in 65 health complexes of the country at the National Institute of Ophthalmology on Monday (October 16).

The Prime Minister said, "We have to give allowance to each nurse-doctor separately to provide medical services during Corona. Because at that time no one wanted to come forward out of fear. They even had to buy various types of protective equipment including PPE for their protection. Volunteers had to be recruited for corona services, vaccinations. Millions of people have died in many countries of the world, by God's grace we have not suffered much."

Sheikh Hasina said, "Currently, we are delivering health care at people's doorsteps through 10,000 community clinics. When we started the first 4,000 of these community clinics, about 70 percent of those achieved success. But unfortunately could not come to power in 2001. The Khaleda government closed the community clinics as soon as it came to power. Because, those who will work here, those who will take services, will vote for the boat brand, so they have to be closed."

She said, "we do not think about these evils like BNP. We have set up community clinics, in which all types of people are receiving services regardless of party affiliation. BNP's thinking is pathetic."
