Tangail Bus Robbery Robbery, gang-rape on running bus: 10 including mastermind arrested
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 8: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 10 members of a dacoit gang in connection with a robbery and gang-rape on a moving bus of Eagle Paribahan in Tangail's Madhupur last Tuesday late night. The mastermind of the robbery, identified as Ratan Hossain, has also been nabbed.
Based on intelligence information, RAB arrested them from Dhaka, Gazipur and Sirajganj areas on Sunday (August 7) night.
The incident of robbery and gang-rape took place last Tuesday (August 2) when an Eagle Transport bus was going to Dhaka with 30-35 passengers from Daulatpur in Kushtia.

In this incident, Tangail district detective police arrested one of the key accused Raja Miah from the new bus terminal area of Tangail city early on Thursday (August 4). The police arrested two more accused named Md. Awal (30) and Noornabi (26) from Kaliakair and Sohagpally in Gazipur on Friday morning. The police claimed that all three arrested were drug addicts. In the meantime, following the police application, the court has sent Raja Mia to five-day remand.
According to the police, Raja Miah is the son of Harun Aur Rashid of Balla village of Kalihati Upazila of Tangail, Shukur Ali of Kanchanpur village of Kaliakair Upazila of Awal Gazipur and Noornabi is the son of Bahej of Shilabah Paschimpara village of the same Upazila.

Last Thursday (August 4) evening, Tangail Senior Judicial Magistrate Rumi Khatun took the statement of the victim woman. At that time, the woman broke down in tears while giving a description of the horrific incident that happened on the bus.
According to police sources, last Tuesday (August 2) at around 11:30 pm, the Eagle Paribahan bus stopped at a food hotel in Sirajganj. After starting the journey from there, some robbers boarded the bus in three rounds. Later, they tied the hands, feet and eyes of the passengers, beat them and looted their property. Meanwhile, a woman on the bus was gang-raped by the robbers.
