Dhaka: None of the 1.1 million Rohingyas living in Bangladesh have agreed to return to Rakhine in the last three years due to security risks.

The Rohingya cannot trust the Myanmar government due to its reluctance to create a conducive environment in Rakhine.

That is why two attempts at repatriation were unsuccessful. In this context, experts have called for establishing a safe zone in Rakhine to create a place of trust for the Rohingya.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen, former Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque and many others spoke at an international webinar organized by Swinburne University in Australia on Saturday (September 19th). Ambassador of Bangladesh to Australia Mohammad Sufiur Rahman conducted the function.

State Minister Shahriar Alam said, "No initiative is visible in Rakhine to create a conducive environment for the return of Rohingyas." Despite repeated attempts to repatriate, no one agreed to go.

Referring to Myanmar's reluctance to take back Rohingyas, he said, "We have given a list of 600,000 Rohingyas for verification and selection, of which they have given us only 10,000 Rohingya information." The state minister said it was not happening. He said the problem is not between Bangladesh and Myanmar but with Myanmar and its people.
Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said, "Bangladesh has sheltered the Rohingya for the sake of humanity, but now Bangladesh is suffering a lot."

"Myanmar does not have a meeting with the Rohingya on the pretext of Kovid-19," he said, adding that "the Rohingya do not trust the Myanmar government to return." Arrangements. '
