Rupganj fire accident: President Hamid, PM Hasina mourn loss of lives

Dhaka, July 9: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Mohammad Abdul Hamid have expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the devastating fire accident at a factory in Narayanganj's Rupganj.

In a condolence message sent to the media on Friday, the Prime Minister sought forgiveness of the souls of the victims and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

President Mohammad Abdul Hamid also expressed deep grief over the loss of life. In a condolence message, he prayed for the forgiveness and peace of the departed souls of those killed in the fire.

The President conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family. At the same time, he wished speedy recovery to the injured in this terrible fire.

Earlier on Thursday (July 8), a fire broke out at the Hashem Food and Beverage Limited factory of Sajib Group in Rupganj. It has so far reported 52 deaths.

Narayanganj factory fire: Death toll rises to 52

Earlier, a fire broke out at Sajib Group's Hashem Food and Beverage Limited factory in Rupganj around 5:30 pm on Thursday (July 8).

The fire immediately spread to other floors of the building. Panicked workers gathered on the roof of the building. Many jumped from different floors including the roof. The death of three people was reported that night and several workers were injured.

Another 49 bodies were recovered from the rubble of the last factory. The death toll from the blaze rose to 52.
