Rural Development Academy Rural Development Academy to be set up in Rangpur-Jamalpur
Dhaka, December 28: Rural development academies are being established in Rangpur and Jamalpur. For this reason, the Cabinet has approved the draft of 'Sheikh Hasina Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur Act, 2022' and 'Sheikh Russell Rural Development Academy, Rangpur Act, 2022'.
On Tuesday (December 27), the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved two draft laws. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's office in the morning.
Cabinet Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar gave this information in a briefing at the Secretariat after the meeting.
He said, Sheikh Hasina Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur Act has been approved for the improvement of sustainable living standards of the rural population in the central and eastern regions of Bangladesh. There are 22 sections in this law. This academy will work under a 21-member board, said the cabinet secretary, The chairman of the board will be the ex-officio minister or state minister in charge of the rural development and cooperative department. And the director general will be a joint secretary or a government officer of his higher rank.
In conducting its academic research, with the approval of the government, joint programmes with domestic and foreign, international research institutions, master's degrees, diplomas, graduate diplomas and courses can be introduced in the field of rural development. It has been approved in today's cabinet meeting with powers to make several rules like other laws.
The draft of 'Sheikh Russell Rural Development Academy, Rangpur Law 2022' has also been given final approval, the Cabinet Secretary said, 'This is just like the previous law. There are total 22 sections in this Act. It will also be governed by a 21-member board. This institution will offer various research programs and graduation, post-graduation degrees.
