Dhaka, April 26: Russian flag carrier 'MV Yamal Orlan' has arrived at Bagerhat's Mongla sea port with another shipment of machinery products of the under-construction Rooppur nuclear power plant.

On Tuesday, the vessel anchored at Jetty No. 8 of the port with 2,522 metric tonnes of machinery goods. Earlier on March 28, the ship left Novorossiysk port in Russia for Mongla with goods, according to the concerned authorities.

The ship's local shipping agent, Conveyor Shipping Agent's Khulna Manager (Operation), Sadhan Kumar Chakraborty, said that unloading of the ship's goods has started. Within three days these products will be delivered by road to Rooppur power plant authorities.

Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali, chairman of Mongla Port Authority, said that the goods of almost all mega projects under construction in the country are being cleared through Mongla Port on a special priority basis. These products are being redeemed quickly by modern methods with skilled manpower. Traders are interested in using this port due to the modern facilities and the sincerity of the port authorities.

Before this, on March 7, 1,200 metric tons of machinery products were brought from Russia for Rooppur, the relevant authorities said.
