Own representative, Dhaka, January 5: Bangladesh Samyabadi Dal (NL) has proposed to the President, Abdul Hamid, to form an election-time government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The NL also proposed the formation of an election commission through legislation, the set up of a council of constitutional bodies, the immediate punishment of abusers of religion, money, weapons and muscle power in elections, and the reduction of businessmen participation in parliament.

The NL made the five proposals in a dialogue with the president on Tuesday (January 4) to form a new election commission. This information was given by Dilip Barua, General Secretary of the Samyabadi Dal after a dialogue with the President of a seven-member party at 7 pm.

Dilip Barua said, "If the Election Commission is formed by enacting a law so that the people can exercise their voting right freely, fairly and free from all kinds of influences in our country, it will reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people." The acceptance of the Election Commission by forming a search committee will not create any appeal among the people.

Regarding the formation of a search committee, he said the problem could be solved by forming a council comprising constitutional bodies.

Referring to the election-time government, Dilip Barua said that in the present reality, it is realistic to form an election-time government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, a seven-member delegation led by Dilip Barua entered Bangabhaban at 5.30 pm. Polit Bureau members Lutfar Rahman, Dhiren Singh, Saiful Islam and Central Committee members Mahimuddin Mahim, Mushahid Ahmed and MA Gani were present at the dialouge.
