Dhaka, January 27: Puja of goddess Saraswati of the Hindu community was held in Dhaka University (DU) in a festive atmosphere. On Thursday at 10:30 am, the puja program officially started at the University's Jagannath Hall with anjali (offerings). Last two years it was organized on a small scale due to Covid, but this time the puja was held in the traditional way.

Various departments and institutes of the university have built 73 pavilions based on different ideas and themes across the premises of Jagannath Hall. Apart from a puja organized centrally in the Jagannath Hall shrine, the highlight of the festival was a large idol made by the fine arts faculty in the pond of the hall.

On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, apart from Jagannath Hall, Rokeya Hall, Kavi Sufia Kamal Hall, Shamsunnahar Hall, Bangmata Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Bangladesh Kuwait-Maitri Hall are decorated with colorful decorations and special programs are organized.

Along with worshiping in the premises of Jagannath Hall, the visitors enjoy themselves. There were various arrangements for children to play. In the mandapams of the department, the priests read various verses together with the devotees. Students of different departments and halls participated in it. All in all, a festive atmosphere prevailed in the premises of Jagannath Hall around the puja. Many people come with their families to see the puja.
