Sayeedi's Death Sayeedi death: Threat to doctor made by active member of Chhatrashibir
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 17 August 2023: Tafsirul Islam (23), an active member of the Jamaat-backed student organization - Chhatrashibir, who threatened Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) doctor SM Mostafa Zaman, who treated Delwar Hossain Sayeedi. Tafsirul's father Rafiqul Islam is also an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami in Rafi area. In 2013-14, several cases were filed against Rafi for causing sabotage in the area and he served jail time.
According to RAB, Tafsirul threatened to kill the doctor due to personal anger and fear of attack. Sayeedi's family also expressed satisfaction with the treatment. Still, RAB is working to bring all those who are insulting and threatening this doctor under the law.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said these things in a press conference organized at RAB Media Center in the capital on Thursday. Earlier, RAB arrested Tafsirul from Maheshpur in Jhenaidah on Wednesday night.
Khandaker Al Moin said that on August 13, Jamaat leader Sayeedi was admitted to the emergency department of BSMMU. He died on the night of August 14. While Sayeedi was undergoing treatment, the expert team treated him with sincerity. Sayeedi's family also expressed satisfaction with the doctors regarding his treatment. But around the death of Sayeedi, some circles are spreading misinformation through various media including social media with the aim of denigrating the medical community along with creating an unstable situation in the country. Apart from this, the SM Mustafa Zaman, who treated Sayeedi, has also received death threats against him from various IDs on social media and YouTube.
In this regard, in view of a general diary (GD) of the victim doctor at Dhanmondi police station, a team of the intelligence wing of the RAB headquarters, RAB-2 and 6 raided the Maheshpur area of Jhenaidah and arrested Tafsirul Islam.
During the initial interrogation, Tafsirul Jamaat leader admitted to sending death threats to doctor Mustafa Zaman through Facebook and mobile messages along with false propaganda on social media regarding the death of Sayeedi.
