Dhaka, October 10, 2021: One million covshield vaccines produced by the Serum Institute of India have arrived in Dhaka.

The Ticker consignment arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday evening. Department of Health and airport officials have confirmed the vaccine.

The Bangladesh government signed an agreement with Serum in December last year to purchase 30 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to the agreement, they were to receive 5 million doses of vaccine from Bangladesh every month.

That ticker is also available for Rs 6 million in two installments.

On January 25 this year, the first consignment of 5 million ticks bought from India arrived.

The second consignment arrives on 23 February.

In the meantime, the government of India has banned the export of serum vaccines to deal with the second wave of corona in India. The decision was taken by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on March 25 this year to meet the growing demand in the country. After that Bangladesh did not get any comment on the agreement.

Meanwhile, India gifted 33 lakh vaccines to Bangladesh in three phases.

In the first phase, India gifted 2 million doses of Oxford-Astragene vaccine to Bangladesh on January 21 this year. Then on March 26, Bangladesh received 12 lakh and on April 7, 1 lakh vaccines. As a result, a total of 11.3 million doses of vaccines have been imported from India so far.
