Seven employees of BRAC Bank injured in Gulistan blast, branch closed

Dhaka, March 8: At least 18 people were killed in a terrible explosion in Gulistan's Siddique Bazar on Tuesday. BRAC Bank's Gulistan branch is located in the 'China Point' building next to the building which was jolted by the massive explosion. A senior BRAC Bank official said that seven employees of the bank were injured in the blast. At the same time, the bank has requested the customers of that branch to take service from Nawabpur branch.

An official of BRAC Bank's communication department said that the blasted building housed BRAC Bank's Gulistan branch, along with an SME unit. The blast broke the window glasses of the branch. There were a total of 50 employees in the branch. Seven of them were injured, and they received first aid at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) hospital.

Another official of the bank said that about 7,000 customers come to the branch every day for service. However, there were no customers at the time of the blast as the incident happened after banking hours. The branch is unable to serve. Customers here have been requested to avail services at BRAC Bank's Nawabpur branch until further notice.

More than half a hundred people injured in the blast are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital. Several of them are in critical condition. The inspector in charge of police outpost of DMC Hospital Bachchu Mia said this.

On Tuesday (March 7) at around 4:50 pm, there was a loud explosion on the ground floor of a seven-story building called 'Cafe Queen' in Gulistan's Siddique Bazar. Meanwhile, two adjacent buildings were heavily damaged in the explosion.
