Dhaka, December 16: A bicycle rally was organized on Monday by Bharat-Bangladesh Sampreeti Sangsad from Niketon (Hatirjheel) to Gulshan Avenue areas in Bangladesh capital Dhaka city, demanding justice for Pakistan conspiracy to eliminate Bengali intellectuals in 1971.

A large number of people participated in the event.

Taufiq Ahmed Tafsir, General Secretary of the organization, led the program.

Around 125 persons participated in the Dhaka event.

They were holding  banners and placards which read 'brutality of Pak forces is not forgettable', 'Pakistan wanted to eliminate Bengali intellectuals', 'cut off relations with Pakistan until it tenders apology', among others.

Not only in Dhaka city, similar cycle rallies were held in Benapole, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Magura, Dinajpur and Rajshahi.

The genocide in Bangladesh began on 26 March 1971 with the launch of Operation Searchlight, as West Pakistan (now Pakistan) began a military crackdown on the Eastern wing (now Bangladesh) of the nation to suppress Bengali calls for self-determination.
