Dhaka, September 28: Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has kept the people of Bangladesh protected.

He said, "She [Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina] is like a banyan tree for the people of Bangladesh. She is constantly thinking about the welfare of the people of the country. Everyone is benefiting from the development the Prime Minister has made. She is not partisan, she gives priority to the development of the people."

He was speaking as the chief guest at a function at a food aid program on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 75th birthday at the Tejgaon Central Storage Depot (CSD) premises in the capital on Tuesday (September 28).

Sadhan Chandra Majumder said, "The return of the Jana Netri (mass leader) to her homeland in 1981 is a milestone in the history of democracy in the country. Restoring the spirit of the war of liberation, establishing a prosperous Bangladesh and improving the lot of the people of this country are tied in the same thread."

Referring to Sheikh Hasina as a worthy successor to the father of the nation, she said, "She is now an exemplary leader in the world. She is working tirelessly for the helpless, poor and backward people in the way shown by her father."

The Food Minister further said, "Bangladesh has succeeded in tackling the coronavirus pandemic under the able leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter. There was no shortage of food in the country at that time, not a single person died due to lack of food."

Secretary General of the Ministry of Food Dr. Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum presided over the event. Among others, Director General of the Food Department Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Additional Director General Abdullah Al Mamun and others spoke on the occasion.

Special prayers were offered on the occasion for the well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the well-being of the country. Later, the food minister distributed food aid to more than two hundred workers.
