Sheikh Hasina praises Japan's continued support for Bangladesh's development

Dhaka, April 27: Describing Japan as Bangladesh's largest bilateral development partner, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked Japan for its continuous support in the development of Bangladesh in the past years.

She said, "I thank Japan for its sustained and generous support for the socio-economic progress of Bangladesh."

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi paid a courtesy call on him at the bilateral meeting room of the Akasaka Palace Guest House here. The Prime Minister thanked.

After the meeting, Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhwat Moon gave this information to reporters.

The Prime Minister said that Japan's contribution to the major development initiatives undertaken in Bangladesh is clear. She also said that Bangladesh is depending on Japan's continued support and cooperation to turn Bangladesh into a 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041 as per Vision 2041.

She sought Japan's support for Bangladesh's candidature for the post of Vice President of the Asian Development Bank and for the post of IMO Secretary General at the organization's upcoming conference to be held in London on July 17-18, 2023.

She said, the father of the nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman developed Bangladesh in accordance with the development model of Japan. Bangabandhu was an ardent admirer of the Japanese model of development and was inspired by the Japanese experience to rebuild his own war-torn country.

Recalling the official visit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Japan on October 18-24, 1973, she said that this visit laid a solid foundation for today's Bangladesh-Japan relations. Bangladesh and Japan enjoy very friendly relations and nowadays this friendship is getting stronger day by day.

Both Sheikh Hasina and the Japanese Foreign Minister acknowledged the friendly relations between the two countries. Both the leaders said that the friendship between Bangladesh and Japan is getting stronger day by day.

Sheikh Hasina pointed out that Bangladesh-Japan relations stemmed from the unwavering support of the Japanese people for the country's independence. He said that Japan recognized Bangladesh on February 10, 1972, immediately after independence.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi praised the current development of Bangladesh in every sector including agriculture, education, ICT and health under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Japanese Foreign Minister said that Bangladesh is moving forward under the worthy leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said that Japan always stands by Bangladesh's development and Japan will stand by Bangladesh in the coming days as well.
