Dhaka, Nov 18: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented five proposals to world leaders to deal with the global crises.

She said, "The impact of sanctions-counter-sanctions is also falling in the South Asian region." She called upon the world to unite to face new challenges.

The Prime Minister said these words in a speech from Ganabhaban which was added virtually to the second Voice of South Summit on Friday. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit titled 'Voice of Global South-2023'. Referring to the ongoing war in Europe and the Israeli genocide in Palestine, Sheikh Hasina urged world leaders to unite to end the conflict.

She said, "Now is the time for us all to unite as a world and demand an end to conflict."

The Prime Minister said the ongoing wars in Europe and genocide in Palestine are due to a lack of trust and respect for international law. These conflicts urgently call for the building of genuine trust and mutual respect between belligerent countries and the international leaders concerned.

She said, "Expressing deep concern over the tragic and inhumane existence of helpless Palestinians in the face of brutal genocide."

Highlighting various global crises, she said, "Our world is plagued with unbearable poverty, unwanted discrimination, unbearable terrorism and the catastrophic threat of climate change. Sanctions and counter-sanctions also now emerge as new challenges and sufferings for the people of the Global South. In these critical times the world must unite and strengthen the faith of all to achieve growth for all."

Appreciating the theme of the second 'Voice of Global South-2023' summit, 'Unity with the trust of all for the growth of all', the Prime Minister said that this theme is timely when the world is facing an important problem called 'deficit of trust'.

Presenting five recommendations, Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh is ready to share experiences with the Global South on food security, free housing, community health care, women's empowerment and climate adaptation."
