Sheikh Hasina sends condolence message to Queen Elizabeth on the death of Prince Philip

Dhaka, April 10: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent separate letters to Queen Elizabeth II and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to mourn the death of Prince Philip. The information was given in a message signed by the Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.

In a letter to Queen Elizabeth II expressing deep grief over the death of Prince Philip, the Prime Minister said, "The Duke of Edinburgh is an example of responsibility and honor to the people of Bangladesh and your majesty will be a pillar of strength and support to the people of the Commonwealth. We commemorate your historic visit with Prince Philip. Bangladesh and the British-Bangladeshi community has lost an ally."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wished peace to the departed soul of Prince Philip and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved royal family members.

In a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Sheikh Hasina said, "On behalf of the people and government of Bangladesh and myself, I extend my deepest condolences on the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth II's wife. It touches the hearts of many people."

The Prime Minister said, "We also recall his valuable contribution in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, as we look forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries."

Sheikh Hasina said, "In this mournful moment, I join hands with the friendly people and government of Britain to pray for the peace of the departed soul of Prince Philip."
