Hasan Mahmud Sheikh Hasina will be PM of govt during election: Information and Broadcasting Minister
Dhaka, July 22: Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, elections in Bangladesh will be held under its constitution. There will be no violation of the constitution in elections. According to the constitution, the current government will perform the duties of the government during the election. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be the prime minister during the elections.
He said all this while answering questions from reporters at Circuit House before the chief guest's speech at the special extended meeting of Kurigram District Awami League on Friday.
The Broadcasting Minister said that in all the democratic countries including India, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Continental Europe France, Germany, the government which has been running the country, they perform the responsibilities of the government during the elections. In the United States, the president does not resign before the presidential election.
Pointing out that the caretaker government that BNP is demanding is only in Pakistan, the minister said, 'My question is why they follow and imitate Pakistan only. Mirza Fakhrul said a few days ago - Pakistan was better. It is natural that they will imitate Pakistan.
At that time, Hashan Mahmud said about BNP's movement, 'Now BNP is a tiger with broken legs and a lion in a cage. Their bullying is the fertilizer. They cannot afford to do anything else. And if they try to destroy peace, order and stability in the country, the government will suppress it with a strong hand. And Awami League will resist with the people.
In response to the questions of the journalists about the visit of the European Union (EU) and the United States delegation, the Information Minister said that the EU delegation came at the invitation of the Election Commission. Not at anyone else's invitation. Since they have come at the invitation of the Election Commission, they have met with the Commission, the government party, the opposition party - everyone and their visit has been very positive. Because, the Election Commission invited the EU representatives to organize a free, fair, fair election. The EU responded to their invitation by sending delegations. It is very positive.
Regarding the visit of a high-ranking delegation including the US Under Secretary, the minister said, "We have excellent multi-dimensional relations with the US. They are partners in our development journey and a few days ago we celebrated fifty years of diplomatic relations between the two countries."
