Dhaka, April 24: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid her respects at the graves of the August 15 martyrs at Banani Cemetery in the capital.

At that time, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana was with her. Sheikh Hasina went to Banani cemetery with her younger sister on Sunday morning. After paying tribute, the two sisters prayed for the peace of the souls of the martyrs of August 15.

After that the Prime Minister and her younger sister stood there in silence for a while. They sprinkle flower petals on the graves of the martyrs. Later, Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana recited Fateha and prayed for the peace of the souls of the August 15 martyrs.

Their mother Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nessa Mujib, brothers Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell and other martyrs of 1975 are lying in eternal sleep in Banani cemetery.

On August 15, 1975, a group of misguided soldiers killed Bangabandhu and his family. On that day, apart from Bangabandhu, his wife Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, three sons, the brave freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal, the brave freedom fighter Sheikh Jamal, the infant son Sheikh Russell, Sheikh Kamal's wife Sultana Kamal, Sheikh Jamal's wife Rozy Jamal and Bangabandhu's younger brother Sheikh Nasser, 18 family members were brutally killed.

The current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana survived because they were staying abroad. Bangabandhu was buried at Tungipara in Gopalganj and other martyrs at Banani graveyard.
