Singapore sends gifts for Rohingyas in Bhasanchar

Dhaka, January 30: Singapore's First Gentleman Mohammed Abdullah Alhabshee has sent gifts for Rohingya refugees in Bhashan Char, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said on Friday.

Earlier, Momen attended an exchange meeting organized by Sylhet City Corporation and the inauguration ceremony of Sylhet Zila Parishad Super Market. The Minister also inspected various development works in the city including Kadamtali Central Bus Terminal in Sylhet.

He said Singapore had extended a helping hand to the Rohingyas after taking them to Bhasanchar.

Another 3,000 Rohingyas were sent to Bhasanchar on Friday and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to send 1,20,000 Rohingyas to Bhasanchar. Rohingyas are being taken to Bhasanchar for their welfare.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is sincere in the development of Sylhet. If he goes to her for any development work, she does it. Never says no.

Referring to the efforts of former finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith to reduce traffic congestion in the Sylhet metropolis, he said the city dwellers have demanded the establishment of a ring road to reduce traffic congestion. Their demands are being seriously considered.

Momen further said that a beautiful Independence Tower will be constructed in Sylhet. Plans are being taken to build Bangabandhu Complex. He also emphasized on holding a special program in Sylhet on the occasion of Mujib Year and the golden jubilee of independence.

The Foreign Minister said the country is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina. These developments have been possible under the leadership of the Prime Minister. The country's poverty rate has halved. Infant and female mortality rates are declining.
