Dhaka, April 27: Police have identified 313 people as Hefazat-e-Islam's financiars. Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Additional Commissioner AKM Hafeez Akter told reporters at the headquarters on Tuesday (April 27) at noon.

He said the plan was to remove former Amir Allama Shafi at the wedding of the son of Junaid Babunagari, the Amir of newly dissolved committee of Hefazat-e-Islam. A few leaders including Mamunul Haque and Junaid Al Habib met at the wedding ceremony. At that meeting, it was planned to remove Allama Shafi and make Babunagari Amir.

Hefazat-e-Ilam leaders have been arrested in a series of violent incidents in different parts of the country since March 26. Meanwhile, on Sunday (April 25), the central committee of Hefazat was dissolved.

Mamunul Haque was arrested on April 18 from Jamia Rahmania Madrasa in Mohammadpur. On April 19, he was remanded for seven days in a case. He was produced in court on April 26 and remanded for another 10 days in two other cases.

Regarding the interrogation of Mamunul, the police informed that important information is being obtained during the interrogation by remanding the recently arrested Hefazat leaders. They wanted to build this country like Pakistan by forming Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh in the form of an organization of Pakistan.

Amir Ahmad Abdul Quader, a former president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, was arrested on Saturday (April 24th). Most of Hefazat-e-Islam is associated with Jamaat-e-Islami. Mamunul was planning to overthrow the government and come to power using the children of Hefazat-e-Islam and Madrasa as shields.
