Metro rail Six metro rails will be built by 2030
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 24: Six MRT lines will be built by 2030. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this at the signing ceremony of the contract with the consulting firm to supervise the construction work of MRT Line-1 (Metrorail) organized by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited at the Bangabandhu International Convention Center in the capital on Sunday.
Obaidul Quader said, "Smart vehicles are needed for smart Bangladesh. The world is moving forward, we cannot stay behind. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate MRT Line-6, the dream project of Bangladesh's young generation, in December. The first part will be inaugurated during this time. By 2030, we will build six MRT lines."
An agreement has been signed with the Nippon Koei Corporation JV Company of the multinational consortium as the consulting firm for the MRT-1 project. This consortium includes eight domestic and foreign institutions. The agreement was signed by MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, and Nao Ki Kudo, representative of Nippon Kwai Company Limited.
Thanking Japan, the road transport minister said that the communication system of Bangladesh is progressing with the help of Japan.
