Special session of Bangladesh national assembly starts today

Dhaka, November 08, 2020: A special session of the Jatiya Sangsad on the occasion of Mujib's year is starting at 6 pm on Sunday. This will be the tenth session of the Eleventh Parliament.

With the power given in Article 72 (1) of the Constitution, the President said. Abdul Hamid convened the session on October 21. With this, another session is going to start in Corona situation.
This special session was convened on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The session was supposed to be held in March but was postponed due to coronavirus.

The main purpose of this session is special discussion on Bangabandhu. Earlier, the ninth session of the 11th National Assembly ended on September 10. Due to the coronavirus, the ninth session was held with the members of parliament appointed in accordance with the health rules. Attendance of 60-70 MPs is ensured every working day. Coronavirus causes seating with a gap in the middle.

Moreover, everyone who attended the session was tested for corona. Members of Parliament and officials and employees of the Parliament Secretariat have to attend the session with Corona Negative Certificate.

The same condition has been laid down in the tenth session. For this, corona test has been done on all concerned including the members of parliament. Corona has to attend the session with a negative certificate and following the hygiene rules. Although journalists have been barred from entering the last two sessions due to the Corona situation, a limited number of journalists will be present at the Parliament House during the President's address on Monday, November 9 to cover the session. However, on other working days of the session, the Parliament will have to collect news from the live broadcasts on Bangladesh Television.

This time the session is to be shortened. It is learned that the session may last from 8 to 10 working days. Among these, various activities of Mujibvarsh will be held from Monday to the next 4 working days including special session i.e. discussion on Bangabandhu. The Parliament Secretariat has informed that the general activities of the Parliament will continue in the remaining working days.
