Dhaka, November 19: Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has admitted that rumors of money laundering by Bangladeshis in Canada are true.

Responding to a question from reporters on Wednesday, he said, "I got the news in Canada, initially I found some truth. I thought the number of politicians would be more. But it turned out that there were four politicians. The number of government employees is high. There are also some businessmen. However, the foreign minister did not name any of the money laundering politicians, government employees or businessmen.

He warned of stern action against money launderers abroad, saying there was no objection if anyone took money abroad legally. However, strict action will be taken in case of illegal trafficking.

Apart from money laundering, Foreign Minister Momen answered reporters 'questions at the Meet the Press event at Dhaka Reporters' Unity. Next month, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Asked whether the Teesta water-sharing deal could be resolved at the meeting, the foreign minister said, "There will be no magic here. We don't think that Teesta deal would be signed suddenly. But whatever happens, Teesta is fairly ready."

"You know, the deal has been agreed. But did not sign. The Indian government has never said that they will not sign it. They always said, ‘We’re ready to do it. But they are not able to sign due to their internal problems. It's at that stage. "

Asked about the repatriation of Bangabandhu's killers, Momen said five of Bangabandhu's killers are still at large. "I know the location of the two killers. One is in America. Another in Canada. We have already hired a lawyer in Canada. Canada is still unresolved. I hope to get back the killer who is staying in America. I have sent all the information to their Attorney General, they will make a decision."
