Bangladesh Steps will be taken if extortion by third gender is found: DMP Commissioner
Dhaka, March 24, 2024: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that if someone of the third gender extorts money from houses, roads and vehicles, they will be brought under the law.
He said this at the monthly crime review meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Saturday.
The DMP Commissioner said that the police have taken legal action against a person of the third gender in an incident in the Sherebangla Nagar police station area recently. Various types of extortion complaints are being received in the name of various members of the third gender.
Appropriate legal action will be taken against them in the light of these complaints.
He said that to provide the desired service to the people, the service seekers who come to the police station should provide service as soon as possible and with sincerity. People first come to the police station to seek police services.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police should convince the people of the city by providing services as soon as possible how sincere they are in public service.
Habibur Rahman said, as directed by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the beat policing and community policing system should be accelerated to deliver police services to people's doorsteps.
The state has entrusted us with the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of our people. It should be reflected in professionalism and desired service. He also said that special attention should be paid to the traffic system to resolve the traffic jam during Ramadan.
So far the traffic system in Ramadan is in good condition, we have to maintain it. In the meantime, instructions have been given to the officers of the traffic department. Along with senior traffic officers, crime branch officers will also be on duty from the road.
