Strong wind, rain predicted in 6 divisions including Dhaka

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 4: Strong wind and rain are predicted in six divisions of the country, including Dhaka, on Monday as well. No. 1 naval warning signal has been maintained in the inland river ports for fear of strong winds. This information was given by Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday.

Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Chittagong, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Barisal divisions received rain in the last 24 hours from 6 am on Sunday to 6 am on Monday. No rainfall was reported in Khulna division. The highest rainfall was recorded in Dinajpur and Rajarhat. The Meteorological Department has recorded 39 mm rainfall in these two places. There was a light rainfall in Dhaka.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 9 am today (Monday) said that there may be temporary gusts of rain or thundershowers at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a couple of places in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chittagong divisions.

In addition, the weather may be dry with temporary partly cloudy skies. During this time day and night temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged.

According to the Meteorological Department, the increase in western light pressure is located in the foothills of the Himalayan region of West Bengal and adjoining areas. The normal light pressure of the season is located in the South Bay of Bengal.

On Monday morning, the lowest temperature in the country was 21 degree Celsius at Rajarhat in Kurigram. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 35 degrees Celsius in Kushtia's Kumarkhali.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the inland river ports of the country from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Monday said that there would be rain or thundershowers with strong winds upto 45-60 kilometres per hour from west or northwest over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, Tangail, Bogra and Sylhet regions. River ports in these areas have been asked to display the No. 1 naval warning signal.
