Dhaka, March 3: Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that students will be taught coding from the third class. She said this at the convocation of East West University on Thursday (March 2). The Minister of Education spoke as the Chief Guest as the Chancellor and President's representative of the University.

In the convocation ceremony, the Education Minister said, "We are transforming the education system to create a smart Bangladesh. We have formulated a new curriculum from pre-primary to secondary, which has been launched. By 2025, the new curriculum will be implemented in primary and secondary. Our students used to memorize, couldn't absorb. Now will learn through joy. Will be experiential active learning. Will learn to apply what is taught. No more test scares. There will be some tests, but mostly continuous assessment."

The education minister said, "We will teach coding to students from the third grade. Another plan is going to be introduced, that is—coding, design—will be taught to students between the ages of six and 15. Students will not be shocked when they come to university. They will come prepared from school. We want all students at every age level to learn whatever subjects they study—languages, ICT, soft skills. Students learn skills, problem-solving skills, Will learn to be an entrepreneur. Will learn values."

Professor Raonak Jahan was the convocation speaker at the 22nd convocation ceremony at East West University. Syed Manzoor Elahi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the University; Founder President and Founder Vice-Chancellor of the University's Board of Trustees, distinguished economist Dr. Mohammad Farasuddin; Other members of the Board of Trustees; University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. MM Shahidul Hasan; Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque Mamun; Treasurer Ishfaq Elahi Chowdhury spoke. Teachers and parents were also present.
