Dhaka, February 17: Several areas of Bangladesh including Sylhet were shaken by the earthquake in Meghalaya, India. The magnitude of the tremor, which occurred at 9:56 am Bangladesh time, was 4.3. The origin of the earthquake was 11 km away from Sunamganj's Chatak.

According to the USGS, the quake occurred at a depth of 64.8 km below the surface. No damage or casualties were reported as a result of the earthquake.

Meanwhile, on February 6, a devastating earthquake hit Turkey and Syria. The death toll in Turkey and Syria has risen to over 41,000 so far. More than 35,000 people died in Turkey alone. A mother and two children were rescued alive from earthquake-ravaged Antakya, Turkey on the tenth day. They were trapped in the rubble for 228 hours. The recent earthquake of 7.8 magnitude has devastated the southeastern region of Turkey and the northwestern region of Syria.

Anadolu News Agency reported that Ella and her two children, Meisam and Ali, were rescued from a collapsed apartment block. Earlier, a woman was rescued alive after more than nine days from the collapsed building in Turkey. He was rescued from under a rubble in the city of Kahramanmaras. The scene of the woman's rescue has spread on social media.

The 42-year-old woman was rescued 222 hours after the devastating earthquake struck on February 6. Her name is Melik Imamoglu.
