Dhaka, February 2: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the ministries and departments to take action against the responsible officials if government projects, functions and programs are not completed on time. Recently, a letter has been sent to all the ministries and departments from the project branch of the cabinet department highlighting this directive of the prime minister.

The letter said that the Prime Minister's instructions for the implementation of government functions, programs and projects are as follows: "There is often a delay in the implementation of government functions, programs and projects. As these are not performed on time, the country and its citizens are deprived of its benefits and in many cases the expenditure increases. There is also a lack of financial discipline. That is why there is a need for intensive supervision and monitoring by formulating action plans and financial plans on these issues from the beginning of the year."

The Prime Minister's directive further said, "Besides, it is advisable to review the issues and carry out the necessary review or investigation of the concerned ministry or department and take action against the responsible officials if the activities or programs or projects are not completed in time."
