Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 28 December 2023: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has commented that BNP's fugitive acting chairman Tarique Rahman is trying to destroy the country's politics while sitting in London.

He said this at the opening ceremony of the polling agent training program at the Dhaka District Branch Awami League office in Tejgaon of the capital on Tuesday. Saber Hossain Chowdhury, convenor of polling agent training sub-committee and Awami League candidate for Dhaka-9 seat, presided over the event.

The bridge minister said, "Many political parties boycott elections in many countries of the world. But such acts of sabotage are rare. There is no leader, he sits in London. He ran away on bail."

He said, "He is not doing politics now, he is destroying politics. He is conspiring to destroy democracy. Zia and Khaleda Zia have killed democracy. It is natural that those who started the politics of murder and conspiracy will hinder the development of democracy."

He said, "Fair elections are necessary to save democracy. We did not want the opposition parties to be out of the elections. They would have made the elections more competitive. But they are not, yet there is a festive atmosphere in the elections."

He said that some opposition parties did not stop with boycotting the election, now they are trying to disrupt the vote. And that is being done not by marches and protests, but by terrorist activities. Their terrorist activities have taken a terrible form. They are sabotaging.

Obaidul Quader said that public transport is being attacked to stop the election. They also attacked the train several times. Even worse things could have happened in Gazipur. In Tejgaon too, they snatched the child from the mother's breast.

He said, BNP thought that without them there would be no voter turnout. But it's a nightmare. So they are making anti-election propaganda by mixing the sweetness of mind after failing in the movement.
