Dhaka, November 26: Two suspected Rohingya robbers were killed in a gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Hnila union under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning, according to reports.

The deceased have been identified as Kefayet Ullah and Qurban Ali.

Reports said that the law enforcement officials recovered 20,000 yaba tablets and arms and ammunition from the spot, following the incident.

RAB said both the deceased- Kefayet and Qurban- were robbers and drug peddlers. Officials said that the two were accused in multiple arms and drugs cases.

The gun fight took place following a drive based on a tip-off about a gang of robbers in the Damdamia hill area of Hnila.

RAB officials retaliated to firing from robbers, who resorted to the act after sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Additional Police Superintendent Md Abu Salam Chowdhury of Cox's Bazar RAB 15 said.

The bodies have been recovered from the spot and sent to the morgue in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
