Ten-day isolation advised after the onset of COVID symptoms

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 20: The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has recommended that Coronavirus-positive patients remain in isolation for 10 days after the onset of symptoms.

In addition, the government has made a number of proposals and recommendations, including the distribution of free masks to the public, to address the deteriorating situation in Corona. The committee also recommended through public representatives and religious representatives to motivate the people to wear masks properly and follow other hygiene norms.

The recommendation was made at a meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Sahidullah, chairman of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19, at the Zoom platform at 10 pm on Tuesday (January 18). This information has been given in a circular signed by Prof. Dr. Sahidullah on Wednesday (January 19) night.

The meeting recently discussed in detail the rising corona infection. Following a detailed discussion in the presence of committee members, the following recommendations were made:

1. Covid-19 positive patients will remain in isolation for up to 10 days after the onset of symptoms. In addition, people who come in contact with asymptomatic Covid-19 patients do not need quarantine, but they must make sure to wear a tight mask.

2. The committee recommended that the DGHS increases surveillance in all ports of entry, including airports, to ensure proper observance of government health guidelines.

3. It is recommended that all government hospitals provide round-the-clock Covid-19 and non-Covid emergency care to all patients.

4. It is recommended to take steps to implement the circular issued by the cabinet by involving the leaders and the stakeholders such as transport owners' association, shop owners' association and restaurant owners' association.
