Dhaka, October 23: Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor and vice president of the district Awami League Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy has said that terrorists have no religion, following attacks on the minority Hindu community in several places of the country by Islamists during the Durga Puja.

"Islam never allows people of other religions to attack. Those who have done this are not Muslims, they are militants. And the militants have no religion," she said.

She made the remarks at a human chain of harmony and peace in front of the Awami League office at Rail Gate No. 2 in the city on Saturday (October 23) at 11:30 am.

Ivy said, "Conscientious people can never hurt another religion. I will request the government to bring those who have committed this incident under exemplary punishment. Then such incidents will not happen in future."

Also present at the time were Anwar Hossain, chairman of Narayanganj district council and president of the metropolitan Awami League; former president of District Bar Association and member of national assembly of Awami League Advocate Anisur Rahman Dipu; District Awami League co-president Abdul Qadir and Adinath Basu; Joint General Secretary Jahangir Alam; Organizational Secretary Abu Sufian; and Ali Reza Ujjal, general secretary of the city Juba League.
