Dhaka, 27 November 2022 : The cases filed against the top leaders of BNP one after another on the order of the High Court on the application of the Anti-Corruption Commission are going on.

BNP lawyers alleged that the government is using the state machinery to suppress the ongoing democratic movement and to deprive the party leaders of their constitutional rights ahead of the national elections.

ACC lawyer says, not targeting any political party. The organization has taken the initiative to activate and settle old cases pending for a long time. In the meantime, initiatives have been taken to move the cases of BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, BNP leader Aman Ullah Aman, Zainal Abedin Farooq, former Deputy Minister of BNP Asadul Dulu.

Md. Khurshid Alam Khan, the senior lawyer of the ACC, said that some rulings and appeals were pending in the High Court for a long time. We have mentioned these and taken the initiative of hearing. For example, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy's case was pending for 10 to 12 years. Because, those who have written, appealed, they are not taking any initiative of hearing. ACC itself is now taking the initiative to hear these cases. It will continue.

When asked to know, BNP Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Kaiser Kamal said that old cases against BNP leaders are being activated on purpose. Again new cases are being given. In the last few days, 103 absentee cases have been filed against BNP leaders and workers. These cases have no basis. The police is deliberately filing these cases of disappearance in their own way without respecting the existing laws and constitution of the country to cooperate with the government.
He said, people say the anti-corruption commission has turned into the BNP suppression commission. On the one hand, the police and on the other hand, the anti-corruption commission and the courts are working to suppress the BNP. Their real objective is to strangle the movement led by BNP to restore democracy. That is why they are using the state machinery.

Senior lawyer Md. Khurshid Alam Khan said, ACC does not aim to suppress any political party. See these cases are pending for a long time. The cases have been on the list for a long time. ACC's objective is to settle any corruption case by proving it well. It is not the aim of the Anti-Corruption Commission to destroy any political party.
