Dhaka, April 7: President Md. Abdul Hamid said, "In the last 14 years, under the strong and strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has achieved all the qualifications to be promoted from a less developed country to a developing country. Under her leadership, the country's democracy is safe and secure today. Currently, no other group or Unconstitutional forces have no chance of usurping state power."

The President said this in an address to Parliament on the occasion of 50 years of National Parliament on Friday (April 7). Prime Minister and Leader of Parliament Sheikh Hasina, Leader of Opposition Begum Rowshan Ershad and most of the parliamentarians were present at the time.

The President said that April 7 is a historic and unforgettable day in the history of the National Parliament and the country's parliamentary democracy. The first session of the National Assembly was held on this day in 1973. The journey of parliamentary democracy began in the newly independent country. However, behind this journey is a tragic history of 24 years of oppression, exploitation and torture.

Although Pakistan was created in 1947 after being freed from British rule, the Bengali nation was once again under the control of the East Pakistanis, a province of Pakistan. The Bengali freedom struggle and independence movement against Pakistani exploitation progressed through the language movement of 1952, United Front elections in 1954, Ayub Khan's anti-military movement in 1958, the historic 6-point declaration of 1966, the popular uprising of 1969 and the general elections of 1970. In 1971, under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, independent Bangladesh emerged on the world map through a bloody war in return for the sacrifice of three million martyrs and two hundred thousand mothers and sisters.

He said, "Most of the members of the Constituent Assembly of 1972 and the first National Parliament of Bangladesh in 1973 have died. In the present parliament, I and Tofail Ahmed as members of the National Assembly of Pakistan and Amir Hossain Amu as members of the Provincial Council, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Muha: Imazuddin Pramanik and Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju are alive."
