Dhaka, March 8: Mentioning that the historic speech of the Father of the Nation on March 7 was a declaration of independence in the true sense of the word, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that it contained instructions for guerrilla warfare on the one hand and tactics to prepare the people for war on the other.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Father of the Nation in her speech on March 7, has said this twice, 'This time the struggle is for our liberation, this time the struggle is for our freedom-' and the last time he emphasized it. So in a nutshell, the March 7 speech was a declaration of true independence."

The Prime Minister said, "The Father of the Nation had given the right direction to prepare for a war through his speech on March 7, the history of oppression and deprivation of Bengalis and most importantly through this speech."

Sheikh Hasina said, "The Father of the Nation knew that he may not have survived the moment he officially declared independence. That is why he made the declaration of independence in his historic speech."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing a function organized by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of the historic March 7 celebrations on Sunday.

She virtually participated in the main event organized at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital from Ganobhaban with the help of video conferencing.

The daughter of Bangabandhu said that since her historic speech on March 7, the Father of the Nation had given her all directions on how East Pakistan would function. The most historic thing is that at that time Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib used to make announcements from his house at Dhanmondi No. 32. Everything from the office-court to the treasury was ran from 32 Dhanmondi. How was that control? As an example, she said in "At that time, Yahya Khan had come to Bangladesh and none of the cook offered to work. Officials rang up 32 Dhanmondi and asked that the cooks be told to work."

Sheikh Hasina said she does not know that such other non-cooperation movement has taken place anywhere else in the world. Because the people of the country had followed the instructions given by the father of the nation.
