The name of 22nd President of Bangladesh will be known today

Dhaka, February 7: Who will be the 22nd President of the country will be known today (Tuesday, February 7). That is why the ruling Awami League has called a meeting of the parliamentary party today. The meeting will be held at 7:30 pm in the meeting room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

According to sources from the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, Awami League's parliamentary party leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the parliamentary party meeting. Awami League Parliamentary Party Secretary and Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury requested party MPs to attend the meeting on time.

President Md. Abdul Hamid's term will end on April 24. Therefore, the 22nd presidential election of the country will be held on February 19. For this purpose, the nomination papers for the post of President should be submitted to the Election Commission on February 12. The nomination papers will be scrutinized the next day on February 13. If there are more than one candidate, the vote will be held on February 19. Members of Parliament will elect the President by voting.

According to the constitution, members of parliament will vote for the candidate for the presidential election. And the parliamentarians have to be supporters and proponents of the presidential candidate. The opposition Jatiya Party has already said that it will not field a candidate. Awami League nominated candidates will be elected as they have a single majority in the parliament. Therefore, it is said that apart from finalizing the party candidate, the proponents and supporters will also be finalized in the Awami League parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday.
