Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 28 July 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 'Smriti Chiranjeev' monument at the Bangladesh Supreme Court (SC) premises on Friday morning. On December 18, 1972, after the inauguration of the highest court of the country, she inaugurated the monument built to preserve the place from which Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave his speech.

The names of 69 lawyers martyred in the country's liberation war of 1971 were engraved on the monument. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the 'Record Bhawan' of the Supreme Court at the same function organized by the Supreme Court on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee.

The Prime Minister also unveiled the cover of the Supreme Court's publication 'Amader Bicharalaya', a video documentary on the rise of Bangladesh as an independent country and the journey of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh was screened. Speaker Dr. Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury was present on stage.

Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque spoke on the occasion. Appellate Division Justice Obaidul Hasan delivered the welcome speech.

Attorney General of Bangladesh Abu Mohammad Amin Uddin and President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Lawyers Association Md. Momtazuddin Fakir also spoke on the occasion.
