Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 22: Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that Awami League expects all participatory and competitive elections.

He said, "Hopefully, elections will be held on time according to the constitution with the participation of all parties. However, the constitutional and democratic march will not stop in the face of anyone's conspiracy, neither in the past nor in the future. The train of democracy will not wait for anyone."

Obaidul Quader said this in a statement on Thursday (July 21).

Alleging that a certain section of the country, including the BNP, is psychologically suffering from 'denial syndrome', Quader said, "They have no faith in the country's constitution, judicial system, elections, public opinion, democratic norms. Again and again they choose the path of conspiracy and intrigue. They always try to seize state power through assassination-que-conspiracy without elections."

In the statement, Quader said, "BNP has traditionally indulged in conspiracies to retain power illegally and has been forced to relinquish power repeatedly in the face of resistance from the people of Bangladesh."

In view of the recent statement of BNP leaders about the caretaker government, Obaidul Quader said, "BNP is also responsible for the destruction of the caretaker government system. The BNP shamelessly partisanised the non-partisan caretaker government system to sustain their illegitimate power. Amended the constitution to increase the retirement age of judges to ax power in the name of caretaker government. BNP even hijacked the post of the head of the caretaker government with the party president. BNP destroyed all the state institutions of the country during their rule. The highest court of the country has given the final judgment that the caretaker government system is illegal and unconstitutional."

He also said that the party called BNP never practices democracy and they do not follow democratic norms in the management of the party. Those who don't believe in democracy and don't follow democratic norms, who indulge in conspiracies and conspiracies against the country - only they can say 'I don't know the Election Commission, I don't understand the Election Commission, I don't accept the Election Commission.'

In a statement, Awami League General Secretary said, "Sheikh Hasina's government has accepted the responsibility of running the state through elections by people's votes. Awami League has always been doing politics following the constitution, law and democratic norms. Elections will be held on time in accordance with the Constitution and following universally recognized democratic norms and procedures."
