DMP There is no specific threat of militant attack around August 15: DMP Commissioner
Dhaka, August 14: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Farooq said there is no specific threat of terrorist attacks ahead of the National Day of Mourning tomorrow, August 15.
In an event on Sunday evening, he said, "Even if there is no specific threat, there is always a threat on August 15. We are conducting this special operation based on this threat."
He said that the block raid or special operation in the capital is part of our regular activities on the occasion of National Mourning Day. However, it is not yet known how many people have been arrested in this block raid or special operation that has been going on since Saturday. Earlier, the DMP Commissioner ordered to conduct a block raid or special operation in the capital on Saturday on August 15 National Mourning Day.
The order signed by the DMP Commissioner said that block raids will continue on hotels and messes in the capital Dhaka from August 12 to 14. Area wise block raid, search and check post activities will be conducted in homes, residential hotels, messes, slums with the aim of preventing the militants from taking position on August 15. Accordingly, the police is conducting block raids and searches.
