There is no such thing as an electoral government in a regime: Foreign Minister

Own correspondent, Dhaka, 10 October 2023: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen mentioned that the election will be held according to the country's governance system. At the same time, he told the US delegation that there is no such thing as an electoral government in the regime.

The minister held a meeting with the visiting US pre-election observation team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday afternoon. He said this in response to a question from journalists after the meeting.

When asked whether there was any discussion with them about the electoral government, the foreign minister said, "There was no discussion about the electoral government. We have told them that we will hold elections in the same way as the elections are conducted in the whole world. There is no such thing as an electoral government in our regime."

Talking to the observation team, he said, "They are all very mature people. They have come to assess a free election. They have come to know what we have done in conducting a free and fair election. They have no opinion of their own. They just want to know. How will there be free and fair elections? We have said, we have a lot of conflict in these countries, there is conflict only when there are elections. We have told them, we will hold free, fair and acceptable elections. We want to create an example. Where there will be no conflict. But we It will not happen at will. There must be spontaneous participation of all parties and opinions."

Abdul Momen said, "Some say to boycott the vote. We want everyone to vote. The party with the most acceptance will win and form the government."

When asked whether the observer group had given any message about the participation of all parties, the minister said, "We did not say anything. We did not discuss anything about it. But we want everyone to participate in the elections. But we do not force anyone to participate in the elections. Those who want to participate in the elections. Welcome from our side. It is their decision not to come. We will not force anyone to vote or force them to vote for any party."

He further said, "We want people to vote as they wish. We have made such arrangements. We have said that there should not be any conflict in the campaign process. We are careful that votes are not sold or votes are rigged. We do not want No one should force anyone to vote."
