Dhaka, August 15: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called on the countrymen to be ready to fight any inaction and conspiracy of the evil forces in unity and to protect the continuity of the country's development and democracy.

In a message given on Monday on the occasion of 'National Mourning Day' on August 15, she said, "Though the killers killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, they could not kill his dreams and ideals. But anti-independence sectarian groups and anti-democracy-development circles are still plotting in various ways at home and abroad. I call upon the people of the country to be always ready to protect the continuity of development and democracy of the country by unitedly confronting any inaction and conspiracy of this evil power."

August 15th is our National Day of Mourning. On this day in 1975, assassins brutally killed President Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family. Referring to several casualties of a family in Mohammadpur due to the cannon fire of the assassins, the Prime Minister remembered all the martyrs of August 15 on the National Day of Mourning. She wished for the salvation of their souls.

Sheikh Hasina said, the long 23-year political struggle of the father of the nation and the visionary and strong leadership of the Bengali nation broke the chains of subjugation and brought our great freedom. When Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was engaged in the struggle to build a golden Bangladesh with the entire nation in the newly independent war-torn country, the anti-independence-war criminal gang killed him along with most of his family members. Through this murder, they tried to stop the tradition, culture and progress of the Bengali nation. The aim of the assassins was to destroy the state structure of non-communal, democratic Bangladesh and spoil our hard-earned freedom. The anti-independence gang involved in this heinous murder started the politics of murder, coup and conspiracy since August 15, 1975. They passed the Indemnity Ordinance to block the way to trial for the assassination of the Father of the Nation.

She said that Ziaur Rahman illegally seized power and killed democracy by imposing martial law. Undermining the constitution. The killers are rewarded with jobs in embassies abroad. Grants citizenship to anti-independence-war criminals. Shares state power and rehabilitates politically and socially. Subsequent illegitimate military governments and BNP-Jamaat governments followed the same path.
