Thirty minutes closed door meeting of CEC with Chief Justice

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 31 July 2023: After the meeting with the Chief Justice, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said, "We (Election Commissioners) took oath before the Chief Justice. I myself and two members of the commission have worked in the judiciary for a long time. The judge will retire (in September). So I paid him a courtesy call, that's all."

After a 30-minute closed-door meeting with the Chief Justice at around 2 pm on Monday, CEC told reporters in front of the Appellate Division.

In response to a question from reporters, the CEC said, "My office will talk about the ruling given by the High Court on the election issue. There was no discussion here about demarcation."

Before that, he went to meet the Chief Justice at around half past noon. Election Commissioner Rasheda Sultana, EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam and Joint Secretary (Law) Mahbubur Rahman Sarkar were present with him.

Earlier, when the delegation including CEC Kazi Habibul Awal entered the Supreme Court, they were welcomed by Supreme Court Registrar General Md Golam Rabbani, High Court Division Registrar Munsi Md Moshiar Rahman, Appellate Division Registrar Muhammad Saifur Rahman, Special Officer Md Tariq Moazzem Hossain.
