Dhaka, February 13: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that those behind the misleading propaganda of Al Jazeera are being traced at home and abroad. He said that propaganda and rumors were spread against Sheikh Hasina in the past too, which was later proved to be false. Al Jazeera's bizarre report will also be proven false.

Obaidul Quader said this at a briefing held at his official residence on Friday afternoon.

Obaidul Quader said that politically interested quarters at home and abroad were involved in a deep conspiracy to break the unity of the government and the Awami League.

Meantioning that the Awami League, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, is strongly united, Obaidul Quader said that no conspiracy will work to create a rift in this unity.

Regarding the attack on the Basurhat municipal mayor's car on February 11, the Awami League general secretary said the matter has already been discussed with the Chittagong Range DIG, CMP commissioner and Feni police superintendent.

He said he has directed the concerned law enforcement agencies to take action against those involved by revealing the correct information through investigation.

Quader said a decision would be taken at a meeting of the Central Executive Committee to be held after February 21 in all the branches of the Awami League where there is an organizational crisis.

The Awami League general secretary also mentioned that the BNP has been repeatedly defeated in the elections and movements due to its negative politics. "On the other hand, the people are happy with the unprecedented development done by Sheikh Hasina," he said.

Referring to the BNP's defeat in the recent municipal elections due to their anti-politics, Obaidul Quader said, "The BNP has resorted to propaganda to protect itself knowing that defeat is certain in the upcoming elections as well."

Mentioning that BNP is now spreading propaganda and conspiracy in the country and abroad, Obaidul Quader said, BNP leaders are saying things to save themselves from the workers' anger, but there is no response from the people on the call of their movement.

The Awami League general secretary said, "I have been hearing their demand for the last one decade, but their movement is now rejected by the people."

He said the entire leadership should resign for managing to alienate a national political party like the BNP.
