Dhaka, October 6: Sharidiya Durgotsava, the biggest religious festival of Sanatan Dharma followers, ended on Wednesday.

According to tradition, married women offer vermilion, betel and sweets to Goddess Durga on Dashami day to wish for the well-being of their husbands. After touching the vermilion on the feet of the goddess, the vermilion is first smeared on the head, then on each other's heads and on the face. The goddess is bid farewell with a smile on her face. Women also undulge in the game of vermilion. After that Hindus bid farewell to Goddess Durga by singing and dancing. Such a picture was seen at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital on Wednesday (October 5) afternoon.

Dhakeshwari National Temple was thronged with vermilion women since morning. After the Vijaya Dashami Puja in the morning, there was a shadow of sadness in the pavilion. The sound of uludbhani, conch, bells and drums was the farewell tune of Devi Durga.

According to mythology, one of the celebrations of Vijaya Dashami is 'Devivaran'. According to tradition, Sadhaba women touch vermilion to Durga with vermilion, betel and sweets on Dashami day to wish for the well-being of their husbands. After touching the vermilion on the feet of the goddess, the vermilion is first smeared on the sinthi, then on each other's sinthi and on the face. He painted his face and said goodbye to the goddess with a smile. People of all ages enjoy that game.

Talked with Maya Saha who came to Dhakeshwari Pujamandap. He said, Maa Durga is leaving feeling a bit sad. Will be back again next year. I went down and enjoyed it. It feels pretty good. Supriya Mandal from Jatrabari said that Puja was celebrated for five days with various arrangements. It feels a bit sad to have to say goodbye to Maa Durga. Durga will return again next year.

On September 25th, Goddess Bakhsh begins with the invocation or mahalaya of Goddess Durga. And the autumn Durga Puja begins on October 1 through Mahasashthi Puja. After that, four days passed with laughter, joy and worship. On Vijaya Dashami, Goddess Durga is bid farewell through 'Vihit Puja' and 'Darpan Bisarjan'. And the largest religious festival of the Sanatan sect ends with the idol sacrifice, Sharadiya Durga Puja.
