Three Bangladeshis die in under-construction building collapse in Malaysia
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 30 November 2023: Three people were killed in an under-construction building collapse in Malaysia. They were all Bangladeshi workers. Four others are missing in this incident.
Rescue workers are said to be searching for the missing. According to a report in the Straits Times, the accident happened in Penang city at around 9:45 pm local time on Monday, November 28.
Penang deputy police chief Mohd Yusuf Jan Mohd said rescuers have so far found five of the nine trapped workers. 18 workers were working on the spot. He said, 18 workers were hired to work in the building under construction. At that time none of them went out for prayer.
He said, so far it has been possible to identify the three victims. Two of them died on the spot and one died at the hospital. The two injured in the accident were sent to Penang Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are said to be serious.
Mohammed Yusuf Jan Mohammed said, we think four more people may be trapped under the rubble. He confirmed that all the workers working there are Bangladeshi nationals.
