Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 22 March 2024: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has ordered to increase vigilance on three-wheeler as well as motorcycle movement to avoid road accidents during Eid. At the same time, three days before and after Eid, the highway should be closed for trucks and lorries.
He gave this instruction in a meeting at the BRTA building in the capital Banani on Thursday. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, this meeting was held with the participants to ensure safe and smooth travel.
Obaidul Quader said, we are still worried about the accident. There is no end to this accident. Three-wheelers, motorcycles, reckless driving - accidents happen here. Therefore, the safe road project should be implemented quickly. If you keep cool, accidents will happen. Everyone should fulfill their responsibilities without placing blame in this regard.
Mentioning three-wheelers and motorcycles as the biggest nuisance during the Eid trip, he said, a policy needs to be made here. These movements have been banned on 22 roads and highways. But it is not working. The capacity of highway police and BRTA should be increased here. If this is not the case, no matter how many decisions are made, it is difficult to implement them.
Meanwhile, Obaidul Quader expressed his anger about the busy bus traffic in Dhaka city. He said that there are many factories making these cars in Dhaka city. I saw it myself.
