Three dead as passenger bus loses control in Manikganj

Dhaka, October 22: A Dhaka-bound passenger bus lost control and fell into a ditch at Singair in Manikganj, killing three people, including the driver. At least 20 passengers of the bus were injured. The accident took place at around 2.30pm on Thursday (October 22) in Rishipara Bakchar area of Hemayetpur-Singair-Manikganj regional highway in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as bus driver Hridoy Hossain, 28, passenger Anwara Begum, 65, and pedestrian Nikhil Sarkar, 25.

Abul Kalam, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Singair Police Station, said a Dhaka-bound passenger bus lost control and fell into a ditch on the side of the road at noon.

Three people, including the driver, were killed on the spot when the bus overturned.

Another 20 passengers were injured in the accident.

Locals rescued the injured and admitted them to various hospitals.

He said the bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to the morgue of Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
