Three killed in train-bus collision in Narayanganj

Own representative, Dhaka, December 27: Three people, including a seven-year-old child, were killed in a train-bus collision in Narayanganj. However, the names of none of them were identified. Eight others were also injured.

The injured are Nuru Mia (38), Manoranjan Saha (40), Quader Mollah (35), Mizan Mia (65), Mona and Monir (35). The names of the others are not yet known. Nuru Mia and Manoranjan Saha are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College.

Earlier on Sunday (December 26) afternoon, a train collided with a bus belonging to Ananda Paribahan at Railgate No. 1 in Narayanganj. Two people were killed on the spot. The injured seven-year-old child was brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital. He died there around 8:30 pm.

Sangeeta Saha, wife of the injured Manoranjan Saha said, "My husband was there at the time of the accident. He was rushed to a local hospital and later to Dhaka Medical College."

Ibrahim and Johnny who rescued and brought the injured to the Hospital said, "We rescued two including a children and brought them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. However, the child died."

Narayanganj Sadar General Hospital emergency department doctor Sabina Yasmin said that four seriously injured people have been sent to Dhaka. The other four were given first aid.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Shah Zaman said the train was entering Narayanganj Central Railway Station from Dhaka. At that time, a bus of Ananda Paribahan coming from Kalirbazar fell in front while crossing the number one gate area. Then the train hit the bus. Police and fire service later recovered the bodies of the two men.
