Three technocrat ministers-ministers of state tender their resignations
Own Correspondence, Dhaka, 30 November 2023: The resignation of three Ministers-Ministers of State who are cabinet technocrats (non-members of parliament) is effective. Related sources said that their resignations have been accepted. At the same time, the resignations of three advisers have also been accepted.
After the election schedule was announced on November 19, Science and Technology Minister Yafes Osman, Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Planning Minister Dr. Shamsul Alam.
All three of them were technocrat ministers-state ministers. At the same time, the prime minister's economic advisor Mosiur Rahman; Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Tawfiq-e-Ilahi Chowdhury and Advisor on International Relations Dr. Gauhar Rizvi submitted their resignations.
On Wednesday morning, State Minister for Planning Shamsul said that the resignation letter has been accepted by the President. The resignation is effective from today. On November 20, Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain said that the process of accepting resignations of three technocrat ministers and advisors is ongoing. They can continue to work till the resignation is accepted.
After the resignation of three members, now the total number of members in the cabinet is 44, excluding the Prime Minister. Among them, 23 ministers, 18 state ministers and three deputy ministers.
Meanwhile, two technocrat ministers and one minister of state have resigned and their offices have been distributed. The responsibility of the science and technology ministry has gone to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, while the post and telecommunication department will be looked after by the state minister for information and communication technology Junaid Ahmed Palak.
