Padma Bridge Toll Tk 2 cr 9 lakh 40 thousand 300 toll collection in first 20 hours on Padma Bridge
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 27: The Padma Bridge was opened to traffic on Sunday (June 26) from 6 am. In the first 20 hours, Tk 2 crore 9 lakh 40 thousand 300 has been collected from the bridge as toll.
Confirming the information, Bangladesh Bridge Authority Executive Engineer Md. Abul Hossain on Monday (June 26) said, "As many as 51,316 vehicles have crossed from the two ends during this time. Tk 1 crore 8 lakh 95 thousand 900 has been recovered from 26,589 vehicles at Mawa end, and Tk 1 crore 44 thousand 400 has been collected from 24,727 vehicles at Jajira end. Earlier, in the first 8 hours, a total toll of Tk 82 lakh 19 thousand 50 was collected on both sides."
On the other hand, on Sunday (June 26) in 15 hours from 8 am to 9 pm, the collection was Tk 1 crore 48 lakh 52 thousand 400 rupees (about one and a half crore rupees). In the first 15 hours, a total of 36,065 vehicles crossed.
Earlier on Saturday (June 25), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Padma Bridge. The Padma Bridge was opened to traffic from 6 am on Sunday.
Meanwhile, after opening the dream bridge, a large number of vehicles and motorcycles had started crossing the Padma Bridge from Sunday morning. Avoiding traffic jams, many people tried to cross the Padma Bridge on foot, while crossing the bridge on foot is prohibited.
